Top 6 most beautiful ao dai styles
We’re going to take a look at some of the most amazingly beautiful styles of the traditional Vietnamese dress, called ao dai.
Of course beauty is a subjective thing, but we can only give our honest opinion, and we’d be very happy to hear your thoughts on the topic!
Ok let’s get started!
1. Wedding ao dai
There are few things more spectacular than an elegant, well made wedding ao dai. These days they are often made in red or white lace and/or chiffon, and sometimes include a long train. Wedding ao dai designs will often feature beautiful applique or beading, usually gold in color.

2. Hand-painted ao dai
An expertly hand-painted ao dai brings yet another layer of artistry to an already beautiful garment. Popular painting motifs include lotuses and other flowers popular in Vietnamese culture, but of course it is completely up to the artist’s vision.

5. Silk ao dai
While more “exotic” fabrics and stylings can be great for the right occasion, there is a timeless quality to a comfortable, silk blend ao dai, with a beautiful, eye-catching printed design.
Silk with a blend of stretchy material, is the most popular choice for ao dai fabric these days, as it is allows comfortable movement, does not wrinkle easy, and is durable over time (assuming the fabric is high quality). The best ao dai brands will only use high quality fabrics from reputable suppliers.

6. Modern ao dai
What we personally call “modern” ao dai are a more casual alternative to the longer, more formal looking traditional ao dai. Modern ao dai are shorter and therefore more practical for everyday wear. Cotton or silk brocade are popular fabric choices for this style of ao dai, and it is usually worn with jeans or leggings underneath. We like this style of ao dai because they give us more opportunities to wear and share our love of ao dai in daily life.
